【 摘 要 】
This paper examines the role of thepublic sector in providing additional information toexporters in developing countries as they seek to monitorand keep open their access to foreign markets by using therules of the WTO system. It highlights new informationgeneration and dissemination initiatives undertaken by theWTO Secretariat, Global Trade Alert, and the World Bank inresponse to the global economic crisis of 2008-2009. Giventrends in the imposition of new crisis-era trade barriersthat these initiatives have identified, the paper describesways in which the new sources of rich and detailed data maybe used to further assist developing country exporters thatmay lack the capacity to sufficiently monitor their tradinginterests by relying solely on private resources.
