【 摘 要 】

This paper provides an overview of themajor current debates on infrastructure policy.It reviewsthe evidence on the macroeconomic significance of the sectorin terms of growth and poverty alleviation.It alsodiscusses the major institutional debates, including therelative comparative advantage of the public and the privatesector in the various stages of infrastructure servicedelivery as well as the main options for changes in the roleof government (i.e. regulation and decentralization).
