This report is currently implementingthe second phase of the Tanzania Social Action Fund, knownas TASAF II. The main objective of TASAF II is to empowercommunities to access opportunities so that they canrequest, implement, and monitor sub-projects that contributeto improved livelihoods that are linked to indicator targetsof the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as stipulated inthe National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty, popularly known by its Kiswahili acronym MKUKUTA. One majorchallenge of delivering TASAF II is its expanded mandate andfull mainstreaming into local government authorities (LGA)operations. LGAs had to be provided with the opportunity tointernalize an objective assessment achievements andchallenges observed during the implementation of TASAF I,through the sub-project cycle. This would provideopportunity for the joining LGAs to learn from theexperiences of TASAF I, thus create space and environmentfor efficient and cost-effective delivery of TASAF II.
