Yemen has focused on increasing studentlearning outcomes by improving the quality of education inthe country. An effective student assessment system isan important component of efforts to improve educationquality and learning outcomes because it provides thenecessary information to meet stakeholders’ decision makingneeds. In order to gain a better understanding of thestrengths and weaknesses of its existing assessment system,Yemen decided to benchmark this system using standardizedtools developed under The World Bank’s Systems Approach forBetter Education Results (SABER)program. SABER is anevidence-based program to help countries systematicallyexamine and strengthen the performance of different aspectsof their education systems.The goal of SABER-StudentAssessment is to promote stronger assessment systems thatcontribute to improved education quality and learning for all.
