This Botswana Agriculture PublicExpenditure Review (AgPER) is one of a series of similarstudies undertaken in over a dozen countries in sub-SaharanAfrica under the framework of a program coordinated byCAADP, supported by the BillMelinda Gates Foundation andthe CAADP Multi-Donor Trust Fund, and implemented by theWorld Bank. The AgPER presents data about actual expenditurefor the period 2000 to 2013, with an outlook on thefollowing two years. It presents public expenditure onagriculture structured by various dimensions and classifierssuch as institutional, recurrent versus investment andcapital, by sub-function and subsector and by spending unit.It analyzes expenditure levels, patterns and trends andcompares expenditure patterns with policy objectives andstrategies. Finally, it draws conclusions andrecommendations in areas where future decisions couldbenefit from a clear view of an analysis of past spending orwhere it is deemed useful to support imminent policyformulation and decisions with a clearer understanding ofthe financial implications.
