【 摘 要 】

Cigarette smoking is a major risk factor for TB morbidity and mortality, and an important driver of TB transmission and incidence trends. There are gaps in current knowledge in Pakistan regarding cigarette smoking and TB. The goals of this dissertation research are to 1) quantify the burden of tobacco smoking among TB patients; and 2) quantitatively and qualitatively characterize the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors regarding tobacco use and cessation among TB patients and health care providers.
