This report on Korea is geared towardspolicy makers from developing countries that are in themidst of, or are intending to, embark on the transitiontowards the knowledge economy. It provides pragmatic policylessons drawn from Korea's forty-five years ofknowledge-based growth. This report not only looks at thecurrent policies and challenges of today's high incomeKorea, but also reviews its historical economic developmentsince the 1960s when Korea was still a low income country.It follows Korea through the decades as it undertook anarray of knowledge strategies that propelled it through thevarious income levels. This report therefore providescompelling policy lessons that are relevant for developingcountries at different stages of economic development.
