Information and communicationtechnologies provide the basis for increasing and applyingknowledge in the private and public sectors. Countries withstrong information infrastructures that employ innovativeinformation technology applications, have many advantagesfor sustained economic growth and social development. Thisbook is, primarily, a business strategy which explains theWorld Bank's role in the development of informationinfrastructure. It details a plan for expanding theinstitutional development capacity within the World Bank andin the regions in order to successfully implement thisstrategy. This book also discusses issues relating toinformation technology quality assurance and improving theWorld Bank's capacity to ensure such quality.
