【 摘 要 】
This report consists of a collection ofcase studies from Latin America combining qualitative andquantitative research methods for the analysis of povertywithin a social exclusion framework. The first chapterprovides an overview of the differences between quantitativeand qualitative methods, and the gains from using both typesof methods in applied work. The other chapters are devotedto three case studies on reproductive health in ruralArgentina, the targeting of social programs in Chile, andsocial exclusion in urban Uruguay. Each case study wasprepared within the broader context of country-specificeconomic and sectoral work at the World Bank.
