【 摘 要 】
The 2009 edition of the little greendata book includes a focus section, four introductory pagesthat focus on a specific issue related to development andthe environment. This year the focus is on urban areas andthe environment, exploring how cities and climate change areaffecting the way we live and how good public policies canimprove prospects for future generations. Urbanization andeconomic growth move in tandem. As emerging market economiesdevelop, they increase their contribution to greenhouse gasemissions. The emissions of developed and developing countryeconomies together increase the vulnerability of cities toclimate change. Cities are particularly vulnerable toclimate change impacts because they concentrate people, infrastructure, and economic activity. But good publicpolicies can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and otherpollutants while minimizing the impacts from climate change.
