【 摘 要 】
The little green data book 2010 showwide disparities across regions. For example, urban airpollution declined in most countries between 2000 and 2006(the most recent year for which data is available), with thegreatest progress in low-income and lower middle-incomecountries. But concentration levels are still nearly threetimes higher in these countries than in high-incomecountries. The book also estimates adjusted net savings, which measures the annual changes in a country's totalwealth. The literature shows that a positive adjusted netsavings rate is a necessary condition although not asufficient one for sustained growth. Unfortunately, manyeconomies appear to be failing this practical test. The bookis a knowledge resource that aids policymakers in usingenvironmental data more effectively to supportpriority-setting and improved development outcomes.
