In 2003, the Public-Private Partnershipfor Handwashing with Soap (PPPHW) was created in Senegalwith technical assistance from the Water and SanitationProgram (WSP). Housed initially within the Office Nationalede L'Assainissement, the government unit overseeingsanitation within the Ministry of Health, the PPPHW'smain objective was to catalyze and coordinate multi-sectoralinvolvement in the promotion of handwashing with soap. Thislearning note serves to document the behavior changecomponent of the project in Senegal, including keystrategies, results, challenges, and lessons learned.
