Statestat is Maryland's performancemeasurement and management system. In use since 2007,Statestat was originally modeled after Baltimore'scitistat as a way of capturing and monitoring the progressof government service delivery using frequently updateddata. Through a process of continual re-evaluation by theGovernor, his executive staff, and agency leadership duringbi-weekly meetings, new and improved strategies emerge fordelivering key public services effectively and efficiently.Located within the Governor's offices in Annapolis, alean staff provides the logistical and analytical supportfor the operation. A recent visit to Statestat by the PublicSector Performance (PSP) Global Expert Team (GET) inNovember 2009 revealed a set of interesting findingsapplicable to countries developing performance management systems.
