Achieving the right teacher policies toensure that every classroom has a motivated, supported, andcompetent teacher remains a challenge, because evidence onthe impacts of many teacher policies remains insufficientand scattered. Systems approach for better education results(SABER) - teachers, aims to help fill this gap bycollecting, analyzing, synthesizing, and disseminatingcomprehensive information on teacher policies in primary andsecondary education systems around the world. SABER -teachers' collects data on ten core teacher policyareas to offer a comprehensive descriptive overview of theteacher policies that are in place in each participatingeducation system. SABER - teachers analyzes the teacherpolicy data collected to assess each education system sprogress in achieving eight teacher policy goals: (1)setting clear expectations for teachers; (2) attracting thebest into teaching; (3) preparing teachers with usefultraining and experience; (4) matching teachersskills withstudents' needs; (5) leading teachers with strongprincipals; (6) monitoring teaching and learning; (7)supporting teachers to improve instruction; and (8)motivating teachers to perform. By classifying countriesaccording to their performance on each of the eight teacherpolicy goals, SABER - teachers can help diagnose the keychallenges that countries face in ensuring they haveeffective teachers. The main focus of SABER - teachers is onpolicy design, rather than on policy implementation. Itdescribes Cote d'Ivoire performance in each of theeight teacher policy goals, alongside comparativeinformation from education systems that have consistentlyscored high results in international student achievementtests and have participated in SABER - teachers.
