【 摘 要 】
This collection of case studies aims tocontribute to the growing evidence on private sectorengagement in the fight against HIV and AIDS and thechallenges businesses are overcoming in this fight. Bycapturing the experiences of the local private sector, itseeks to foster a more active response from the businesscommunity and to encourage new partnership approaches fromgovernment, civil society, and development organizations toleverage the goodwill and competencies of the privatesector. In a country as large as India, more activeengagement of the private sector is critical to achieve thescale of intervention needed to get ahead of HIV and AIDS.The case studies illustrate the importance of integratingmultiple stakeholders in the fight against HIV and AIDS.They also highlight the growing investment of businesses inthat fight-an investment that recognizes their vulnerabilityto the economic and social impact of the epidemic. And theyshow what businesses can achieve by tackling HIV and AIDSthrough the workforce. By showcasing their achievements andilluminating the lessons of their experience, these casestudies seek to convince other businesses that taking partin the fight against HIV and AIDS is both within their reachand in their interest.
