【 摘 要 】

The objectives of the Education SectorDevelopment Project (ESDP) addresses critical needs in theareas of basic education, such as expanding access throughthe construction, and furnishing of new classrooms. Theproject aimed to revise curricula, develop instructionalmaterials, and strengthen the system of assessment. Inaddition to recruiting more teachers, training for teachersat both pre-and-in service was planned to upgrade thestandards of teaching. To address the needs of studentsenrolled in Technical and Vocational Education programs, theproject proposed to introduce standardized craft curricula,strengthen skills certification and testing, and improvepolicy and management capacity within the sub sector. Theproject planned to support the National University ofLesotho in its efforts to introduce quality enhancement andcost containment measures. Finally, the objectives includedimproving sectoral management by reorganizing the Ministryof Education (MOE), promoting decentralization, and schoollevel management.
