【 摘 要 】
Cost-benefit analysis in education is animportant tool in the economists' arsenal. However, itis essential that research, especially on the socialbenefits of education, make further progress to makecost-benefit more analysis. There is a need for moreresearch on the effects of policy interventions on outcomesbeyond access to a year in school and what they earn as aresult, such as on what children actually learn.Suchresearch should focus on ensuring that the interventions areattributable to outcomes.Nevertheless, it is worthwhile togo through the discipline of noting the benefits and costs, even if social rates of return cannot be calculated robustly.
