【 摘 要 】

This note shows the results of the"Clean Air Initiative in Sub-Saharan AfricanCities," a study to evaluate air pollution launched andcoordinated bythe World Bank.The following items areaddressed: (i) estimation of the present global level of airpollution in Cotonou; (ii) determination oftransportation's role; (iii) evaluation of the risk tohuman health and estimation of resulting expenses; (iv)examination of foreseeable future pollutionevaluation ofresults of measures likely to be taken to reduce pollutionand (v) proposal of a strategy for the implementation ofthese measures.
