【 摘 要 】
This paper examines the linkages betweenurban form and city productivity, using alternative metricsfor urban form and applying them to a comprehensive sampleof Latin American cities. Although most of the literaturehas concentrated on the effects of population density(compact versus sprawling urban development), this paperseeks to assess whether different dimensions of acity's urban form, such as shape, structure, andland-use, affect its economic performance. The paper findsthat the shape of the urban extent, the inner-cityconnectedness, and fullness have a statistically significantinfluence on the productivity level of the city.
