【 摘 要 】

Following several years of disappointingeconomic performance, Senegal has made an importantturnaround, with real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growthaveraging over 5 percent annually during 1995-2005. Thispaper shows that macroeconomic and structural reforms arekey factors explaining this recovery. Drivers of soundeconomic policy decisions in Senegal have included enhanceddemocratic processes, political commitment to the WestAfrican Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), and donorcommunity conditionalities.
