This report is the final product of acountry case study prepared in the framework of thecomparative analysis of organization and performance ofcotton sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa, a study published bythe World Bank in 2008. The objective of the overall studywas to carry out a comparative analysis of the links betweensector structure and observed performance outcomes on asample of nine of the major cotton exporting countries ofSub-Saharan Africa, and draw lessons from eachcountry's experience that can provide useful guidanceto policy-makers, industry stakeholders, and interesteddonors agencies in the design of future cotton sector reformprograms. This paper describes and reviews the situation ofthe cotton sector of Cote d'Ivoire, as well as thereforms that the sector has undergone since the mid-1990s.
