【 摘 要 】
This paper reviews methods that havebeen employed to estimate poverty in contexts wherehousehold consumption data are unavailable or missing. Thesecontexts range from completely missing and partially missingconsumption data in cross-sectional household surveys, tomissing panel household data. The paper focuses on methodsthat aim to compare trends and dynamic patterns of povertyoutcomes over time. It presents the various methods under acommon framework, with pedagogical discussion on theintuition. Empirical illustrations are provided usingseveral rounds of household survey data from Vietnam.Furthermore, the paper provides a practical guide withdetailed instructions on computer programs that can be usedto implement the reviewed techniques.
