【 摘 要 】

Sri Lanka is increasingly seeking toensure that its public school system not only deliversgreater shares of students who have completed highersecondary and tertiary education, but also that all studentsobtain a much better education. Raising teachereffectiveness is considered as crucial for achieving theseaims. This paper reviews the literature on teachermanagement in Sri Lanka, and points to what may be criticalteacher management issues. The paper also outlinesconsiderations and options for addressing these issues,informed by international evidence on approaches to improveteacher effectiveness.
