This policy paper records the outcome ofa strategic analysis of investment requirements in the watersector in Zimbabwe as of December 2013. The work, entitledZimbabwe water sector investment analysis, was undertaken inclose collaboration with senior officials in Zimbabwe as anexercise in determining where World Bank investments may bemost effective in the future, and to assist the governmentof Zimbabwe to develop its own investment strategies. Theanalysis was framed around two key questions: (1) whatimmediate investments are required to ensure that water insufficient quantity and at adequate quality will beavailable to underpin recovery?This is in order to ensurethat water availability would not constitute a constraint tofuture growth and development; and (2) where in the watersector should the next dollar be best spent? This papersummarizes the context of the water sector in Zimbabwe atthe time of the study and reflects the key elements ofpolicy advice derived from the analysis. It is important torecord and recognize the key elements of policy adviceprovided by the World Bank through the water sectorinvestment analysis.
