This Systematic Country Diagnostic (SCD) takes stock of The Gambia’s development trends and reflects on constraints and opportunities going forward. It explores four fundamental questions: What explains low and volatile growth rates, and which bottlenecks need to be addressed? What are the challenges to inclusion? What are the constraints to fiscal, social, and environmental sustainability? And finally, what policy areas will have the greatest potential to reduce poverty and foster sustained inclusive growth?
