This study on Bangladesh was undertakento analyze the gender dimensions of climate change and therole of institutions in reducing gender gaps. The study wascarried out in 20 sites covering 600 households, from March2010 to May 2011, using both qualitative and quantitativeinstruments. This note is organized into five sections. Thenext section gives an overview of climate change and thegender and institutional context in Bangladesh. The thirdsection presents the key study findings and is divided intothree subsections: site- and household-specificvulnerabilities; analysis of gender dimensions of climatechange using the household data and four propositions; anddescription of institutional challenges and gaps insupporting the resilience of women and men. Section fourprovides examples of adaptation programs in Bangladesh, andsection five provides recommendations for enhancinggender-responsive adaptive capacity in Bangladesh.
