【 摘 要 】
The alternating and overlapping of names and the different forms of designation that punctuate the path of the knight in Don Quixote do not only operate against cancelling out, but on the contrary, maximise the values of the anonymity of the «gentlemen» («hidalgo»). This anonymity here results from narrative allusions and the proliferation of different versions of his name, that is, of his lineage and his origins. Here we will seek to illuminate the relationship that exists between Cervantes’ narrative device, and an authorial strategy that oscillates between denying paternity and adding his signature. Through affirming his name, implicated in this signature, the writer seeks renown in asserting his originality, his origins, that he sets against the regularity of the norm.
