【 摘 要 】
Manyphytochemicalsfromdifferentplantspecieshavepotencyintreatmentandpreventionofcancer.Currently,substantialresearchhavebeingcarriedoutinmanylaboratoriestheworldovertodiscovernewplantextractswithhighanticancerand/orantimicrobialactivities.Inthisstudy,sevendifferentplantspeciesGlauciumflavum,Euphorbiafalcata,Conyzacanadensis,Chenopodiumbotrys,Catalpasp.,Quercuscoccifera,CrataegusmonogynafromMuglaregionwereexaminedfortheirantimicrobialandanticancercapacities.DiscdiffusionmethodwasusedtostudyantimicrobialpotencyofethanolextractsagainstGram-positiveandGram-negativebacteria.AnticanceractivitiesoftheplantextractsweretestedagainstthesixdifferentcancercelllinesusingtheMTTassay.ThefruitextractofQ.cocciferawasfoundtobethemosteffectiveextract(13-15mm80μg/discinhibitionzone)againstS.albus,M.luteusandS.aureus.Inaddition,C.canadensisexhibitedantimicrobialactivityonlyagainstE.coliandB.subtilis(10-14mm80μg/mlinhibitionzone).BasedonMTTassays,alloftheplantextractsresultedindifferentdegreesofanticanceractivityonsixdifferentcancercelllines.ThemosteffectiveextractswerefromC.botrys,G.flavum,CatalpaspandQ.cocciferawhichcausedmorethanthreefolddecreaseinthecellproliferationofK562,PC-3andMCF-7celllinescomparedtocontrol.Inconclusion,amongtheseventestedplantextracts,onlyQ.cocciferaandC.canadensisshowedanti-microbialcapacity.Ontheotherhand,4plantextractshavedisplayedhighanticancerpotency.Futurestudiesrelatedwithcelldeathwillelicitthemechanismsofanti-tumoractivitiesoftheplantextracts.
