【 摘 要 】
WindgeneratedelectricityisoneofthemostattractivemethodsofelectricpowergenerationinathirdworldcountrylikePakistan.ThispaperpresentstheeconomicandtechnicalviabilityofwindenergygenerationinremoteandruralareasofSindh(Pakistan).Inlightofthis,Threewindturbineswithpowerratingsof660kW,1,000kWand18,00kWarechosen.Theeconomicanalysishasbeencarriedoutbyfoureconomicindexesthatarecostbenefitanalysis(CBI),NetPresentValue(NPV),PayBackPeriod(PBP)andtheCostofEnergy(COE$/kWh).ThewindspeeddataforthisstudywasobtainedfromthePakistanmeteorologicaldepartment,measuredatheightsof10mand30m,thatspanfrom2002to2005.Theoutcomeofthestudyshowedthat,thehighestannualaverageenergyof5396MWh/yrcouldbegeneratedbyVestasV80(withpowercapacityof1.8MW).Furthermore,thebaselineeconomicevaluationofalltheselectedturbines,indictedthatV80-1.8MWgavetheleastcost(0.043$/KWh)ofelectricityproductionat80mhubheightwhiletheSensitivityoftheselectedparametersshowedthatNPVismoresensitivetoretailpriceoflocalelectricitycost.
