First evidence for the Homerian (late Wenlock, Silurian) positive carbon isotope excursion from peri-Gondwana: new data from the Barrandian (Perunica)

【 摘 要 】

TheHomerian(lateWenlock,Silurian)carbonisotopeexcursionisdocumentedforthefirsttimefromperi-GondwanabasedonnewdatafromtheBarrandian(Perunica).ItisalsothefirsttimethatthisexcursionhasbeenfoundoutsideofthepalaeoplatesthatsubsequentlyformedthesupercontinentLaurussia(i.e.,Laurentia,BalticaandAvalonia).Thetypicaltwo-peakedHomeriandelta;13Cexcursionisdocumentedfromahighlyfossiliferousshallow-waterlimestonesuccessionformallyestablishedhereastheKozelLimestoneMemberoftheMotolFormation.Applicationofdelta;13CchemostratigraphyconsiderablyimprovesthestratigraphicresolutionwithintheKozelLimestoneMemberandenablesmoreprecisedatingofitsverydiversefauna.Thepresentdatarevealrecoveryofbenthiccommunitiesafteraseriesofmid-Homerianextinctionevents(i.e.,theMuldeconodontandtheendlundgrenigraptolitebioevents)startedmuchearlierthanhasbeenhithertodescribedfromotherworldoccurrences.
