In1896,PaulÉvaristeParmentierpublishedamonographonthesystematicleafandtwiganatomyofabroadlydefinedMagnoliaceae.TheHistoiredesMagnoliacéesincludesdescriptionofsome34newtaxa.MostofthesewerebasedonherbariumspecimensreceivedfromFerdinandvonMuellerinMelbournethatarenowpresentintheParisherbarium.ThetaxadescribedbyParmentierandtheirtypificationarereviewed.Thetypesofsomesixtaxahaveyettobefound,butmostnamesarenowtypifiedwithonenewlectotypificationinthecurrentpaper.DrimysvascularisP.Parm.isreportedasanewsynonymofCinnamodendronaxillare(Nees)Endl.exWalp.(Canellaceae).
