【 摘 要 】
Thedecapentaplegic(dpp)geneinfluencesmanydevelopmentaleventsinDrosophilamelanogaster.Wehavebeenanalyzingdppexpressionintwogroupsofdorsalectodermcellsattheposteriorendoftheembryo,inabdominalsegment8andthetelson.Thesedpp-expressingcellsbecometrachealcellsintheposterior-mostbranchesofthetrachealsystem(DorsalBranch10,SpiracularBranch10,andthePosteriorSpiracle).Thesebranchesarenotidentifiedbyreagentstypicallyusedinanalysesoftrachealdevelopment,suggestingthatdppexpressionconfersadistinctidentityuponposteriortrachealcells.Wehavedeterminedthatdppposteriorectodermexpressionbeginsduringgermbandextensionandcontinuesthroughoutdevelopment.Wehaveisolatedthesequencesresponsiblefortheseaspectsofdppexpressioninareportergene.WehavedeterminedthatanunconventionalformofWingless(Wg)signaling,Dppsignaling,andthetranscriptionalcoactivatorNejire(CBP/p300)arerequiredfortheinitiationandmaintenanceofdppexpressionintheposterior-mostbranchesofthetrachealsystem.OurdatasuggestamodelfortheintegrationofWgandDppsignalsthatmaybeapplicabletobranchingmorphogenesisinotherdevelopmentalsystems.
