【 摘 要 】

Gas temperature is a driving factor in the performance of electric oxygen-iodine lasers. Due to the importance of temperature, the gas temperature must be measured at different locations throughout the laser system. Problems with traditional measurement techniques have led to molecular spectroscopy being relied upon for gas temperature measurements. In the past, all temperature information was calculated using the O2(b1Σ) emission spectrum. This thesis discusses a new temperature diagnostic so that gas temperatures can be obtained from the O2(a1Δ) emission spectrum. Determining the temperature from O2(a1Δ) is accomplished by matching the experimental spectrum to a temperature-dependent theoretical spectrum. The theoretical spectrum is formed using the high-resolution transmission molecular database. Additionally, the high-resolution transmission molecular database was used to create a new temperature diagnostic for the O2(b1Σ) spectrum. The new O2(a1Δ) and O2(b1Σ) temperature diagnostics are compared to the current temperature diagnostics. Potential problems with both the old and new temperature diagnostics are discussed. Remedies to these problems also will be presented.
