【 摘 要 】
The scope of this paper is to include haw schools socialize girls to accept a lesser share of the American dream: how girls are selectively steered toward a non-technical curriculum and thus are limited to lower-paying, lower status jobs (not careers); how girls are discouraged from doing well in math and science; and how girls are taught societal norms encouraging then to become homemakers and nurturers. As a mother of daughters and an educator myself, I find this information to be of crucial importance to my students, my daughters, and myself.
