Bangladesh seeks to attain middle-incomestatus by 2021, the 50th anniversary of its independence. Toaccelerate growth enough to do so, it will need to undergo astructural transformation that will change the geography ofeconomic production and urbanization. This study identifies what is unique aboutBangladesh s process of urbanization and examines theimplications for economic growth.
