This book is designed primarily to helpreaders broaden their knowledge of global issues, gaininsight into their country's situation in a globalcontext, and understand the problems of sustaianbledevelopment--both national and global. Because developmentis a comprehensive process involving economic as well associal and environmental changes, this book takes aninterdisciplinary approach. It attempts to describe andexplain the complex relationships among various aspects ofdevelopment, including population growth, economic growth,improvements in education and health, urbanization, and globalization.
