This study, competitiveness of the valuechain of the agricultural sector in Cameroon, aims to helpthe Government achieve its objectives for the rural sector.The main objective of this study was to provide informationon the potentials, investment and growth policies ofcommercial agriculture in Cameroon. It gives an overview ofthe constraints and analyzes the national, regional orinternational competitiveness of six value chains of theagricultural sector. This paper examines family and largeagro-industrial farms from different regions of Cameroon.The six aspects studied are: cassava, cotton, maize, palmoil, plantain and poultry. The primary purpose of this studyof competitiveness is to identify products and operatingsystems already competitive or having the ability to becomecompetitive on the domestic, regional or global market. TheGovernment has explicitly asked the Bank to support newprojects of its agricultural program. This economic andsectoral work will serve as a basis for a new loan to theagricultural sector of Cameroon.
