【 摘 要 】
Balancing the Development Agendaexamines the evolution of the World Bank and its operationsduring the presidency of James Wolfensohn. It examines themodernization of this global economic institution which isnow focused on home-grown development planning whereborrowing countries are in the driver's seat of theirown development. It takes a closer look at the majordevelopment challenges addressed by the Bank during the pastdecade such as debt relief, corruption, and HIV/AIDS andprovides a timeline of events that have shaped the Bank intothe institution it is today.
