【 摘 要 】
Kenya private sector is one of the mostdeveloped and dynamic in Sub Saharan Africa. In thiscontext, USAID/Kenya requested that the Private SectorPartnerships-One project (PSP One) conduct an assessment ofthe private health sector in Kenya. The scope of workinvolved assessing the role of the private sector in theoverall health system, considering the potential of theprivate sector to play a greater role and identifying waysto improve the public private interface to increase equity, access, and efficiency in the health system. The developmentof the scope of work also coincided with the start up of theWorld Bank/International Finance Corporation (IFC) programfor better health in Africa, which envisions improvement ofthe government private sector interface to create newopportunities for investment and lending for growth of theprivate health sector in Africa. As a result, the PSP Oneteam was able to benefit from World Bank/IFC support forboth this report and a summary report that served as acatalyst for a policy dialogue. The recommendations in thisreport have been revised in consideration of stakeholderfeedback received during the policy process.
