【 摘 要 】

The African Ministers Council on Water(AMCOW) commissioned the production of a second round ofCountry Status Overviews (CSOs) to better understand whatunderpins progress in water supply and sanitation and whatits member governments can do to accelerate that progressacross countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Based on theextensive in-country diagnostics, analysis, and stakeholderconsultations, the second CSO provides these insights for 32countries in SSA, for which there are separate individualcountry reports. This document is the regional synthesis ofthe 32 country status overviews which collectively accountfor 95 percent of SSA's population and over 90 percentof Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The report highlights themost important trends, challenges, and proposed actions forachieving improved water supply and sanitation (WSS)services across Sub-Saharan Africa. The opportunities forprogress are identified based on: understanding trends, identifying the challenge, and prioritizing action.
