This volume, Berlin workshop series2010, contains a selection of papers presented at the 11thInternational Policy Workshop, held in Berlin, September28-30, 2008. The workshop was jointly organized byInwent-Capacity Building International, Germany, and theWorld Bank in preparation for the World Bank's WorldDevelopment Report 2010. It provided a forum for an exchangeof ideas and viewpoints that contributed to the developmentof the report. The report will accordingly have six parts,each describing, explaining, or drawing lessons from theclimate change that have been observed in both developed anddeveloping countries. Part one looks at climate change as achallenge to development policy. Part two highlights therole of technological innovation and alternative energysources in promoting sustainable development. Part threeexamines natural resource governance for adaptation,mitigation, and development. Part four examines the role ofthe private sector and nongovernmental organizations inaddressing climate change. Part five explores financingmechanisms for climate change mitigation and adaptation.Part six and last addresses the capacity and governance ofdeveloping countries in mitigating climate change.
