This World Bank Annual Report highlightsthe focus of the Bank activities in addressing worldwidepoverty, describing the Bank work in promoting sustainable,economic growth, and in channeling needed services to poorpeople. Also detailed is the Bank's work towardachieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); itsinstitutional and global efforts toward effectivedevelopment; and, its outreach to clients through PublicInformation Centers, and on the Web. Regional Perspectivesare reviewed, through a breakdown of the Bank's lendingand activities across the developing world, featuringhighlights of projects in borrowing countries within each ofthe Bank's six regions. The Summary of Fiscal YearActivities provides a description of the Bank'sdevelopment knowledge-sharing over the fiscal year 2005; adiscussion of the Bank's approach to lending in lowincome, and middle-income countries; the Bank'sresources; and a summary of the Bank's lending byregion, theme, and sector, such as environmental programsand infrastructure projects. This section also describes theBank's partnerships with public, private, and civilsociety stakeholders. The fiscal 2005 financial statements,organizational information, income by region, new operationsapproved in fiscal 2005, and various lending data areincluded on a CD inserted inside the back cover of this report.
