【 摘 要 】
The evidence is compelling that the poorin developing countries do typically share in the gains fromrising aggregate affluence and in the losses from aggregatecontraction. But how much do poor people share in growth? Dothey gain more in some settings than others? Do some gainwhile others lose? Does pro-poor growth mean more or lessaggregate growth? Recent theories and evidence suggest someanswers, but deeper microeconomic empirical work is neededon growth and distributed change. Only then will we have afirm basis for identifying the specific policies andprograms needed to complement and possibly modifygrowth-oriented policies.
