【 摘 要 】
Nutrition has been sidelined for toolong. Reducing malnutrition is central to reducing poverty.Malnutrition is implicated in half of all child deaths, andcauses much illness and cognitive underdevelopment. As thegrowing evidence demonstrates, fetal and young childrenmalnutrition, threatens survival, growth, and development inchildhood, and, it increases the risk of chronic diseases inlater life. The Millennium Development Goals cannot bereached without significant efforts to eliminatemalnutrition. The book looks at ways to combat malnutrition,by positioning nutrition directly on the poverty and humandevelopment policy agenda, to ensure large-scale nutritionactions, and develop capacity to address malnutrition. Itprovides key findings on the nutritional status, and thebroad consensus on what needs to be done, through theanalyses of the evolution of policy narratives, country casestudies, and workshops, that are behind the headlines, inorder to show how policy changes in nutrition happen, whatinfluences these processes, and, what lessons can be learnedfor the future.
