【 摘 要 】
Globalization has increased competitivepressures on firms. Together with rapid technologicalchange, it has altered the environment in which firmsoperate. While globalization offers unprecedentedopportunities for firms to act successfully, itsimultaneously heightens the risks for firms lagging behind.In an open and liberalized world, increasing firmcompetitiveness has become a major challenge. This bookprovides a thorough analysis of the competitiveness of firmsin the Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA). It isorganized into four parts which detail the different issuesrelated to firm competitiveness from global rules forbusiness, regional business environment, corporategovernance, and the key economic sectors of small/mediumsize enterprises, and tourism. In addition, the book alsoaddresses key issues for the future of the region includingthe real challenges facing firms' operations andefficiency, the ability of MENA firms to compete in globalmarkets, the impact of small, and medium size enterprises onthe stimulation of growth, and the economic potential of thetourism sector.
