【 摘 要 】
The authors use the collective model ofthe household and show, theoretically, that as thewoman's power rises, child labor will initially fall, but beyond a point it will tend to rise again. A householdwith a balanced power structure between the husband and thewife is least likely to send its children to work. Anempirical test of this relationship using data from Nepalstrongly corroborates the theoretical hypothesis.
