Brazilian young people are well on theirway to becoming productive and contributing members ofsociety. Three-quarters of young Brazilians surveyedresponded that they are happy with themselves and with theirlives. And they have the numbers to make substantialcontributions to the present and future of their society --19 percent of the Brazilian population is aged 15 to 24 andBrazilian young people comprise one-third of the youthpopulation of Latin America. This report is the first volumeof a two-volume series. The second volume is a technicalreport that presents the statistical results in detail. Thisfirst volume summarizes the 100-page second volume. It givesa brief review of the report's empirical findings andof the correspondence to youth development policy andprogramming in Brazil.
