This note on making livelihoods andsocial protection approaches gender- sensitive is theseventh in a series of guidance notes on gender issues indisaster risk management (DRM) in the East Asia and thePacific region. Targeting World Bank staff, clients anddevelopment partners, this note gives an overview of themain reasons for including gender sensitive socialprotection and livelihoods approaches in DRM; it identifiesthe key challenges, and recommends strategies and tools forincorporating gender-sensitive social protection andlivelihoods into DRM programs and strengthening the linkagesbetween these disciplines.
