The purpose of this Transport SectorNote (TSN) is to assist the Palestinian Authority (PA) indeveloping a strategy for the sector that can aid inaddressing the immediate constraints and transport issues insupport of the PA's effort to revive the nationaleconomy, improve mobility and reduce poverty. The TSN alsoaims to assist the responsible sector ministries prepare acoherent strategic framework and program for the sector.Secondary objectives are to update the Bank's knowledgeof the transport sector priorities and identify priorityinterventions and support for the donor community sconsideration. The scope of this TSN encompasses thetransport infrastructure, including the road network, ports,and crossings, as well as the public transport system. Afteran introductory chapter, the Note includes a review of thefollowing topics: current status of the transport sector;proposed strategic framework for development of thetransport sector; and financing the proposed strategic framework.
