【 摘 要 】
This note provides two analyticalframeworks for understanding the role of trade in promotinginclusive growth in developing economies. A workingdefinition of inclusive growth focuses on long-term,sustained growth associated with productivity growth andemployment opportunities for broad portions of householdsand firms within countries. International integration canpromote inclusive growth when workers and firms are able toadjust to enter into growing economic activities and adopttechnologies availed through international trade. Theframeworks described in this note build on simple householdand firm choice models, which require only basic knowledgeof development economics. The discussion highlights howthese frameworks can help analysts focus on research andpolicy questions related to the impacts of internationaltrade across the distribution of households and firms withincountries. It also discusses publicly available data setsthat can be used to explore some aspects of inclusivegrowth. In addition, the note highlights important caveatsthat need to be acknowledged by analysts and discussesavenues for future research, which needs to be part andparcel of the inclusive growth agenda.
